As apart of our school-wide communications policy we are required to maintain positive relationships not only with students and staff but wider whanau aswell. In Totora we meet this goal by reaching out to parents about the positive aspects of their child's day when we can. We are required to do this at least twice a term. It may be sending home a photo, an email about their accomplishments or a quick face to face before or after school.
This is important as it helps build professional relationships with the community; the students also enjoy it. Below is a link to our positive communication tracking sheet.
If there is anything you take away from working with me, I hope it is around positive communication and setting up whanau relationships. You will find this takes you far with dealing with issues. Thanks for the hard work in keeping up the contact.
